Friday May 30, 2008

I have been on the road since 8:00pm Thursday getting out of Summerville, GA. I symbolically shook the dust off of my shoes. We drove for 3 hours and stopped about 11:15pm in Forsyth, GA for rest at the Best Western. This morning in my hotel I read in my quiet time something really relative. Talking about being careful about my words, and how I choose to used them.

A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to cme back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.
Matthew 12:36-37 (The Message)
Our words give a lucid picture of the condition of our heart as in Matthew 15:17-20. "Out of the heart the mouth speaks." I pray that God will help me choose my words this day and guard my heart.

Xtreme Weekend 2008

Xtreme Weekend was a great weekend. Soulstice did a superb job in leading us to the throne of God. I look forward to other Xtreme Weekends. It is awesome to have students and leaders come together and worship the one true God all weekend. God is bigger than anything in this world. He is awesome.
We had some great service projects, individual church group times, awesome worship, and much more. Our fun event was a roaring game of flag football. Three pastors in the community brought the Gospel to us each night. Wow, what a weekend!!

Eastside Baptist Beach Retreat 2007

Wow, what a wonderful weekend. God really showed up. He taught me that it is not about us but Him and His wishes. It was the best of time with Belton's Youth Group out of Spartanburg, SC. The theme of the weekend was surrounded around one verse out 1 Timothy 4:12. We spent time discussing what it meant to be an example in and outside the church. To begin with I want to run through a brief description of our weekend.
Friday night we began services a little later with some fun time, and announcements. When we started worship I knew it was going to be a great weekend. The sense of the Holy Spirit in that room was clear. God had indeed showed up. I knew there were students with a heart of worship. God showed up most definitely. At invitation time, we had two salvations and several hands requesting prayer for tough situations going on in their lives.
Saturday was a great day as we started out having quiet times on the beach, and then had a second session. The remainder of the day brought much fun and time to spend with these great students and workers. That night I had planned to worship and study. As we began worship God had showed up once again. Wow, I began to hear hearts break and let God continue to move among hearts. The session that night was on being an example in our purity. By the end of the night we had about 7 students escorted out of the room with leaders for some intense prayer time. We must have been in worship for over 2 hours, and then we walked together for some ice cream and fellowship.
Sunday morning we went to church at the camp, and heard a great message on services and some Irish children singing. That night I had the desire to do some testimony times during out worship before our final message. Once again God had other plans, and took the service in a different way than planned praise God. I am confident that EBC's students truly sought the face of God this weekend. It was perhaps one of the most freeing and best praise times I have ever been in quite a while.
Friday Session: Speech and Conduct
Saturday Morning Session: Love
Saturday Night Session: Purity
Sunday Night Session: Planned to talk about Faith (Never did)
I love them with the love of God, and cherish each and every one in my heart. I can't wait to see them again. I look forward to our next time to reunite. I love you guys very much.
